Just Makes Scents — Green Laundry Tips from LooHoo Dryer Balls founder Cyndi Prince
This month we are focusing on “clean” from under the kitchen sink to the garden and beyond. Laundry extraordinaire Cyndi Prince from LooHoo Wool Dryer Balls has a few tips to help us green-clean our laundry routine.
It’s no surprise that when it comes to cleaning around the house, my day starts in the laundry room. Some days, in fact, seem to begin and end there.
But I have to admit, I love it. I enjoy the feel of warm towels just out of the dryer, the freshness of clean clothes and a tidy workspace where everything is in its place. I can happily admit I’ve created a space that is healthy for my family and the environment.
Here are a few things that make my laundry room a favorite place that’s no chore to spend time in.
• Organic Laundry Soap
While I like Soap Nuts/Soap Berry Laundry Detergent, there are lots of organic laundry soaps on the market. I have a little one at home along with a wonderful husband, so making sure their clothes are cleaned in non-toxic, unscented detergent is important to me.
• Drying Rack
Seems like ions ago when clotheslines hung in just about every backyard. The practice was great for the environment, but also gave us freshly laundered items. Even when the weather is damp, I prefer to hang clothing and other items on a drying rack in my laundry room. It’s a quiet, energy-saving alternative that doesn’t take much more time than a clothes dryer, especially on a hot day.
• Wool Dryer Balls
As the creator of LooHoo Wool Dryer Balls, it’s no surprise I am committed to saving energy and eliminating the use of dryer sheets and their harmful chemicals. LooHoos are so pretty I store them in a glass jar for all to see. Softening your laundry has never been so good for the environment!
